This also ties back neatly into the whole Black Lives Matter nonsense - the real issue is violence in the black community. Police brutality happens, I don't think it's mostly racist, but the legacy of past institutional racism is that most black Americans live in high-crime neighborhoods. They are 12% of the population but account for nearly 29% of crimes committed and almost half of violent crimes. This isn't because of some horrendous flaw in their DNA but it is another legacy of the poverty that followed slavery. So if they get shot by police more often it's not because police are evil racist bastards (obviously, exceptions exist) but due to the demographics of crime. They're also, of course, far more likely to be victims of crime as well. If we really care about making peoples' lives better, we figure out ways to reduce that violence rather than just caring about mass shootings.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
