How is this even possible? Facebook and Twitter have both assured me that the tax reform bill only benefits billionaires. Did I become one of the 1% without realizing it?

Presumably because you receive a salary every month, but will not file your 2018 income taxes until April 2019, which is when we each discover precisely how much of a net gain/loss the sum of the deductions/credits added/removed is for each of us. I definitely advise everyone to compare next years return to the one they file this year, but most people have goldfish memories, so will not; that was a big part of the political calculation here, after all. Just as most people conveniently overlook the fact most of these "cuts" expire by 2020 for every "person" whose last name is not Inc.
