We are seeing similar melting on mountain glaciers that are not near the poles. Since global warming is supposed to be worse at poles you would expect the melting to be worse at poles. If it isn't then you need to look at other causes. The problem is global warming has because an ideology and nothing that violates the dogma is tolerated.
