You might be suprised how low they are authotized to settle. Id push for 50% of what they are looking for. Debt collection agencies dont like to file suit if they can avoid it. Usually they are working on a contingency. Filing suit is expensive if theres any chance you cant actually collect. You need all the paper work from the client. Way more of a pain in the ass to get then you'd expect. Even if you have a great process for forwarding to local attorneys etc... a judgment is in cases like this pretty worthless anyway.
