So I'm driving my daughter and 3 of her friends (they are 8th graders) to see a movie last week, and one of the two boys brags that excrement from his mouth. I don't know how to tell him (or if it would matter to him) that he's optimizing himself perfectly for popularity in high school, but on a longer time window, he's just going to be the guy who can't participate in half of grown-up conversation without revealing himself to be a total idiot.

My daughter's response: "My parents make me read". Damn right we do, but not enough.
