What gets measured gets done.

Or the corollary what gets seen gets is turned into virtue or vice.

No matter the facts, no matter the things that are unseen, the things that are seen are either full of virtue or vice, purity or deprativity. Even though in consequences the things that are unseen are often the more important. How many lives were destroyed due to indifference or wicked action but they were not captured on video tape? These lives were still real even if we do not have a record of their reality in the physical plane, they were still real even if they never entered your mental plane as an idea / aggregate.

The world has always been shitty.

The world will always be shitty in some way, in some way it will be unsatisfying.

This seems helpless at first glance, but it is not truly helpless. Even though the world will always be shit we can change it on the margins, we can change the general ratios of good shit to bad shit on the margin. We can cultivate slight improvements and find joy in the shit.


Remember that there is only one important time and it is Now. The present moment is the only time over which we have power / dominion. The most important person is always the person with whom you are, who is right before you, for who knows if you will have dealings with any other person in the future? The most important pursuit is making that person, the one standing at your side, happy, for that alone is the pursuit of life.
