As an outsider looking in, I think "medicare for all" or "Obamacare" or these other solutions are band-aids over the root of the healthcare issues in the US. It's the for-profit model of hospitals and the outrageous costs of basic care that make things cost so much. Take for example staying in hospital overnight giving birth: I've seen bills online that are $50,000+. The actual costs aren't anywhere near that. I think it will take a Congress with some serious backbone to pass legislation limiting costs of healthcare, but will have to be done over time.
