I've read it leaves out his Christianity, which seems a fairly large oversight.

1) I read that too.
2) One person I trust in movies said they dislike it ... "plenty", but she did not explain more for she just saw that movie and Detective Pikachu during the same night and was tired and did not want to wake herself up any more with a rant about the movie Tolkien.
3) Neil Gaiman liked it. So a counterpoint and thus this thread for Read And Find Out is not a typical movie going audience.

I wanted more opinions for I was looking forward to this movie but do not want to see it if it will make me angry.
