NYC also experienced an overwhelmed healthcare system, though I believe their issue was manpower and not equipment.

Cuomo, in his infinite wisdom, ordered hospitals to return elderly covid patients deemed recovering to their respective nursing homes on March 25th. Before that date, nursing home deaths were relatively light. Since then, 6,000 have died.
