The Tesla with shortest range has 250 miles. That takes about 4 hours to drive, and after that I for one want to stop for a break anyway, and a Supercharger adds about 200 miles range in 30 minutes.
I realise that I might sound like a fanboy, but I had an electric car 7 years ago and don't want imaginary issues to stop people from switching.
Maybe about 400 miles, so if I had a full charge, it would be close. The problem is then of where I would be and needing a full charge. The central valley of California is a very different place from the rest of the state....so having the ability to charge the car back up would be an interesting challenge. You should have seen the look on some of my family's face when I arrived in a non-American car. The surprise & horror was evident.
I think that the tech is close. Just a bit more. The Tesla's are great...but I wouldn't mind some more color choices. laughs
