I guess the cabbage and onion provide a lot of moisture to the traditional recipe (unless there's a sauce element your wife is keeping secret from you!) and maybe you could try to add similar elements to the other recipes...like diced tomatoes in the pizza ones or onions/mushrooms(?) in the ham and cheese?
