I don't fully agree but will concede you make a valid point. I was pointing out that yes I am a conservative but have never been a Trump supporter. As a conservative, I am far more likely to point out hypocrisy and disingenuousness from the opposition than from my own side of the fence. Blame my fallen human nature. Of the progressives who post on this board, few ever call out the Democrats.
Come now, let's not create this comfortable equivalency. All administrations lie and obfuscate, and in the normal scheme of things partisans are more forgiving of their own party. But the volume and scale of the Trump admin's lies far surpass anything governments from either party have done in the past 70 or so years at least, and yes, I include the Nixon and Clinton White Houses in that.
<Quote>One would hope this initiative to Guatemala has more substance than simply a call for them to get their house in order. A cynic might suggest that handing something off for the VP to manage is a sure sign it doesn't have a high priority. Good thing none of us are cynics, right?
Depends on whether you are grooming the VP to replace you when you (hopefully) gracefully retire in 4 years, or not.
I agree there needs to be more than just asking them to get their house in order. But the kind of work needed to stabilize things in Central America cannot be done in one trip anyway. Hopefully, this is a first visit to set the stage.
