Do the beads in your analogy have personal choice? Because human beings do have it. Is it possible that not many POC are interested in geology? Your assumption is that interest in specific endeavors are equally distributed among different cultures. Are they?

Are you serious with this line of argument? Because then you need to explain why such disparities persist not just in geosciences but pretty much every field of science and engineering.
And are you really seriously arguing that whatever people are personally interested in, they get to do? You're really going to pretend that to get to be in a particular academic field, there are a bunch of steps, from going to a good school to going to college to being mentored by a well funded advisor, none of which have inherent correlation to personal interest in the field, and all of which have documented evidence of racialized and gendered discrimination, and then claim this is all about personal choice?
