I think the buildings look generic fantasy and ugly. Nothing like I picture Ogier creations renowned worldwide for their beauty and design.
Not surprised there. A totally CGI city would have been too expensive, I'd imagine.
True. And like I said, this isn't an issue that ruins it for me. But Jordan created multiple women, BPOC, and Asian characters in positions of power and responsibility. Emond's Field, on the other hand, is a backwater village who's residents are viewed as hayseeds and where visitors are rare. It seems forced to make these villagers multicultural when there are naturally occurring opportunities throughout the saga.
You've been to India right? Barring Rand, every other TR character from the show has a skin tone you'd find in the country. And definitely with the same village, in some places.
Do remember that Andor's founding Queen is said to be as dark skinned as the Sea Folk, her descendent is as golden haired and blue eyed as Hitler could wish for, and we've heard of nobles occupying every skin tone in between.
Rahvin, as dark skinned as Ishara, claimed to be from Western Andor, which is where the Two Rivers is, and no one, nor even Mat, who's seen Lord Gaebril, blinks at this notion.
And the Two Rivers is itself descended from the most famous and wealthiest ancient city, Manetheren, which was a center of resistance to the Dark One and drew a multi-national army.
Two thousand years later isn't long enough for total homogeneity to set in.
The Waygates were found in groves of the Great Trees. Most of those groves are long gone but sticking out of the ground like some sort of Stonehenge in the middle of an open field? Plus as you said, it looks nothing like the descriptions in the books.
The Shienaran one is in the middle of a random field. The Caemlyn one is in a basement. The shape is off. The location is fine.
