Not sure you are aware that this only lends credence to the idea that the current stunt is little more than bluff and bluster.
Though I would say there is a big difference in the usual mudslinging that happens between the two pseudoparties and the unrelenting attacks on President Troll that makes it only superficially comparable.
There has been an adoption of these conspiracy theories by the mainstream media (and in kind, permeated into the general populace) on levels and with an intensity never seen before, save perhaps the McCarthyist red scare. This takes it out of the realm of paranoia to me.
Conspiracy theories are best left to the fringe.
Furthermore certain contexts and environments of "group psychology" can enhance it or diminish it. We create a group joy that is more sustainable and reaches higher heights for we all participate together. Team Sports for example or many types of "fan media", we and not I are entertaining ourselves to the point of nonsense.
Likewise if a culture is built on some form of caste system you see more and more of it. etc, etc far more points about the paranoid style but hey I am sick of it so I am stopping.
