That first sentence in particular sounds like the kind of stupid shit you often get from European foreign correspondents describing the US for their home audiences - except now it's coming from the actual president? That's pretty concerning.
I don't think there are many people who believe Trump actually gives a flying fuck about whether women get abortions or not, seeing how he's not a woman - and seeing how he's parroted pro-choice arguments just as easily at times when that was more convenient to him. And there isn't necessarily much correlation between how strongly pro-life someone is, and how inclined to drink the MAGA kool-aid. What's for certain is that Republicans have been trying to overturn Roe v Wade since the day it was decided, and with especial fervour at least since the times of Reagan - it has nothing at all to do with Trump or with MAGA.
Which makes the second sentence, valid enough and in fact very important as a stand-alone statement, sound entirely vapid and self-serving.
Yeah. Of course these tactics are directly caused by the shitty political system of the US, but even so, there are limits as to how dirty you would go in the primaries if you actually believe the future of the nation is truly at risk. As Adam Kinzinger said - don't run crying to him afterwards about where the good Republicans have gone.
