I wasn't qualifying it based on quality, or else it never would have made an honorable mention

It's not an enjoyable read for me anymore. Hasn't been for a long time. I'm very grateful to it for bringing me here, but I gave my WoT books away years ago and have never regretted it. Definitely not a favorite.
In any case, while I love trashy books, the ones that are truly my favorites tend to have some special quality of prose. You'd need to do top 20 or maybe even 30 to start seeing junk in my favorites.

I haven't read Go Set a Watchman, but what I've heard was... bad. Is it actually good?

I loved it because it tore my childhood hero to shreds in a way that I needed to see.

Cooper's DARK IS RISING and Jones' HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE would make my top 20 for sure.

I loved SHOGUN so much as a teenager. No idea how it would hold up on a read today.
