I had a situation where I was buying something and paying cash. The total was something like $15.27. I gave the worker a $20, a quarter and two pennies. I received a confused look and a long pause, then she gave me back my coins, keyed in the twenty, and gave me $4.77 back.

Situations like this happen a lot more often then it used to.
