Sounds like it's only going to get stupider as it goes on, huh?

Elayne was indeed one of the rare bright spots of season 2, interesting that they seem to continue that in season 3, apart from turning her bisexual (presumably?) but I was rather expecting that already anyway. Even though she's straight in the books, the development of her BFF/sister/metamour relationship with Aviendha is a much bigger thing than her actual relationship with Rand, so considering what we know about the general approach of the show, it would've been more surprising if they had not taken it further.
