The first person in the organization to mention the kicker, or the missed PATs should be fired Cannoli Send a noteboard - 20/10/2025 01:21:03 AM

Accountability is the name of the game, and anyone who says the kicker lost this one is incapable of it, and delusional to boot. Yes, if he makes his PATs, the Giants have 35 points and Denver only scored 33. But they scored 33 because that was all they needed. The missed kick shenanigans motivated Denver to play their own games with 2pt attempts, and the Giants stopped them once. They would have been going for a touchdown at the end, and it would have been the Giants called for roughing the passer or pass interference, or ignoring a man wide open deep, to give them what they needed.

When the offense gets 5 touchdowns, the defense has no excuses. If you're going to play prevent, you do it all out, and contain, you don't put on a pass rush, that Denver played like a fiddle in the fourth quarter, with draws and screens and dump offs, and the QB breaking containment to exploit the cushion underneath the prevent coverage. And on the final drive, when you have finally given up on pursuing the QB, sending only three rushers, you don't send in a pass rush specialist with a visible limp who can't get upfield in time to keep from being called offside. If you're not rushing the passer, his job is pursuit and containment, and he needs speed & quickness to do that.

And as good as your rookie QB is, you make allowances for the fact that he IS a rookie and temper your expectations. Come up with a better system for getting the plays in faster after his first TWO delay of game penalties. Don't try to run down the clock with two unimaginative running plays and rely on his decision-making being good on third and long. Don't go shotgun spread on a 2pt attempt, and rely on him to make the right decision on a bang-bang play on the goal line.

Let this game reinforce to people, the Giants are not that good.

They are not "five touchdowns on the road against a 4-2 team" good on offense, because, frankly, a lot of those were gifts. You can't rely on a blown coverage leaving your second tight end uncovered deep. You can't rely on a long run scoring from a back whom the defense has kept contained all afternoon. You especially can't rely on a dropped pass ricocheting right into the hands of another receiver with a clear shot to the end zone. And if there was not a clear NFL mandate to the officials to enhance late game passing with their penalty decisions, you can't rely on a questionable roughing the passer and a gift pass interference incident putting you on the goal line on a drive where you have been utterly unable to move the ball your own damn selves.

At least I have the Dodgers, unlike most other local fans.
