Multiple media outlets have reported on a description that has become commonplace among conservative commentators for the women often seen at the forefront of anti government protests.

The term is Affluent White Female Urban Liberal. Or, AWFUL.

This has provoked unsurprising levels of dismay from those in the media who are supportive of such protests. The New York Times devoted an article to it. Others news sites reported that the Times also complained to DHS, who publicly replied, we have more important things to worry about than acronyms.

Now I make no claim to be expert on matters relating to social media, and on the factors that drive trends going viral. But I suspect allowing your offended sensibilities to become public knowledge is at the very least, counterproductive.
