The Giants tied with the Redskins today. The last three times, including today, the Giants have tied, it was against the Redskins. The last four times, including today, they have tied, it was in their head coach's first season.
2026: Jim Harbaugh
2022: Brian Daboll (I was at the game)
1997: Jim Fassel
1983: Bill Parcells (St Louis Cardinals, who, like Washington, wear red and were in the NFC East at the time)

The last Giants tie before that was in 1973, in Alex Webster's second season, against the Eagles. So the trend at least goes for my life.
The bad part is there seems to be a pattern of diminishing returns on the coaches who tie. Parcells had a bad first season, but was his only losing season as head coach, if strike games are discounted, and he went on to win two Super Bowls. Fassel won the division his first season, becoming the first such team to finish undefeated in the East division (back when that entailed playing 8 divisional games instead of 6), and eventually took the Giants to a Super Bowl, though they lost. Daboll made the playoff his first year and the team's performance declined in each subsequent season.

Hopefully Harbaugh can reverse the trend. Probably not with Jameis Winston under center, though.
