As Gher said, masons are not necessarily confirmed townies. There have been some pure-town exceptions, but most mason groups in games here have contained darkfriends.

I just don't think sharing information in this way will make us more likely to catch darkfriends. Information is the primary weapon in Mafia, and its edge is dulled a bit if everyone has it before it can be applied.

Losing one or two roles isn't really a big deal. We've lost more than that already, and I still think we're ok. The problem with your scenario is that we will inevitably lose the best and strongest roles we have, and we will lose them immediately.

Maybe you're right that roles shouldn't make a difference in winning or losing, but in my experience at least, they do.

Deviation isn't the problem that I foresee. If the darkfriends know what night actions are planned for the town, they can take steps to prevent or counter them. If, indeed, everyone in this game is roled, it would be foolish and dangerous to assume that the darkfriends do not also have additional rolepowers to use.

And I'm just pointing out that those benefits, if they even do exist, come with an immensely huge downside.

The same thing still applies. Even if we don't have vanillas, it would be better to lose a mason, for example, than a cop or a doctor.

I'm usually against mass roleclaims at any time, but I am especially against this one now.
