There is such a thing as WIFOM and it's in every game. Both sides can use it to their advantage.

i.e., those aren't the only three options but I think you already knew that...
The rationale is very simple, the moment you proposed the game be all vanilla there were only three options:
1) You were vanilla
2) You are roled and deliberately put forth a scenario you know is impossible for serious consideration
No. It is an easy way for role to stay hidden.
WIFOM again; roles would have been advised to say... "oh yeah.. possible based on no-reveal" or something of that nature
That problem of people saying "oh, that's a possibility"? Not sure how that's a problem, except for the scum since even roles could have said it was possible based off the no-reveal. Besides, who had claimed vanilla? No one had. It was just an idea that came to mind based off the no-reveal feature.
Except there was no problem to begin with and it would have been just as good to just play along until it was necessary to claim.
What move? Suggesting the possibility that it was a mountainous setup based on another feature of the setup? What's left to explain? It was a direct response to your question asking what were the possible implications of the no-role-reveal feature, not based on the no-reveal AND your current role info (but apparently, answering your question is now "blatantly anti-town"
. I could have been speaking with my role (or lack thereof) in mind, or simply from a theoretical perspective. Besides, as others mentioned, it wouldn't be the first time such a game was played here (although the other one was the "inadvertent" type).
As for the maybe responses... they are deliberately left vague. I may or may not have had the ninjas mentioned in my role message. I may or may not have a role. I may or may not explain my reasoning at a later date.
--------------------------------------
Consider this though... there is no harm done to the town to operate under the premise that everyone is roleless; in fact, there is a benefit to that. How a townie or even a Cop plays the game doesn't change based on whether or not there are any other town roles. It is only the mafia that are concerned about knowing whether there are roles, since those pose the greatest threat to them. (And also a doc, I suppose, although there is no guarantee there has to be a cop even if there is a doc) Now that the whole idea is bust anyway, I think roles should have just let the idea slide or given passive support to the theoretical construct, not outright saying they think it applies in THIS particular game (which would be a lie from their perspective) or stating that it doesn't. That way, the mafia goes about thinking there are probably no roles and they won't have the clues to search them out nearly as well.
I'm not sure it was the best to assume that I (or anyone else) was making the statement based on role info, when it would mean confirming whether or not I had a role. I don't think I, or anyone else replying to that point, ever mentioned being vanilla themselves; we may have tried to act vanilla, but everyone does that every game, no matter their role.
What I'm not completely sure about is whether you are making a scum gambit, saying you are an unnamed minor role. There wouldn't be much downside in a move like that, but... rereading your early posts give me a sense you are likely townie. I do think your claim was unnecessary, and scum could try this move, but I don't think you are one tbh. I can't say the same for Kronin and I think Fox's assumptions are a bit scummy.
tl;dr: WIFOM man, WIFOM.
I'm still wondering why Isaac would choose to say he was roled; don't see how that benefits the town at all. I'd like to hear his answer to that.

1) You were vanilla
2) You are roled and deliberately put forth a scenario you know is impossible for serious consideration
No. It is an easy way for role to stay hidden.
3) You are scum and role fishing
Note that all three of these options make you worth less to the town than an unclaimed. If 1, well a vanilla can be useful to the town, the games not all about roles, but one of their greatest uses to the town is as NK bait. If 2, who will trust anything you give us regarding your role after implying we had none? You may be useful as a vig, but even as a bulletproof, you're compromised because no one will try to attack you thinking you're vanilla. That's why you're high on my list for lynch today.
As to why I claimed role, I was hesitant to RC, however the conversation began continuing, everyone who might reply supporting the idea would be signaling they were vanilla as well. This could easily have cascaded, and been disastrous. Someone had to claim a role before anyone else claimed vanilla, and there were 3 reasons I had to do it.

WIFOM again; roles would have been advised to say... "oh yeah.. possible based on no-reveal" or something of that nature
1) I am roled, and know the game is not low on roles, let alone absent them
2) I knew of the problem, I could not be sure anyone else did, and I could hardly risk saying "Could some role please step up and disprove this?"
2) I knew of the problem, I could not be sure anyone else did, and I could hardly risk saying "Could some role please step up and disprove this?"

3) Realistically, I am already a very high priority target, barring an outright claim of cop or doc by someone I can't imagine anyone being a high priority target then me come the night, so what difference does it make? The scummers will either strike or not, concerned over what protections I may have, and I will either have those protections or not. Same formula as always.
Therefore it made sense for it to be me, since I was roled, was aware of the problem, and already a high-prob target.

Except there was no problem to begin with and it would have been just as good to just play along until it was necessary to claim.
You have not adequately explained away why you made the move, which is blatantly anti-town. Nor explained your 'maybe' responses.
