That problem of people saying "oh, that's a possibility"? Not sure how that's a problem, except for the scum since even roles could have said it was possible based off the no-reveal. Besides, who had claimed vanilla? No one had. It was just an idea that came to mind based off the no-reveal feature.


Except there was no problem to begin with and it would have been just as good to just play along until it was necessary to claim.


What move? Suggesting the possibility that it was a mountainous setup based on another feature of the setup? What's left to explain? It was a direct response to your question asking what were the possible implications of the no-role-reveal feature, not based on the no-reveal AND your current role info (but apparently, answering your question is now "blatantly anti-town". I could have been speaking with my role (or lack thereof) in mind, or simply from a theoretical perspective. Besides, as others mentioned, it wouldn't be the first time such a game was played here (although the other one was the "inadvertent" type).

As for the maybe responses... they are deliberately left vague. I may or may not have had the ninjas mentioned in my role message. I may or may not have a role. I may or may not explain my reasoning at a later date.

Consider this though... there is no harm done to the town to operate under the premise that everyone is roleless; in fact, there is a benefit to that. How a townie or even a Cop plays the game doesn't change based on whether or not there are any other town roles. It is only the mafia that are concerned about knowing whether there are roles, since those pose the greatest threat to them. (And also a doc, I suppose, although there is no guarantee there has to be a cop even if there is a doc) Now that the whole idea is bust anyway, I think roles should have just let the idea slide or given passive support to the theoretical construct, not outright saying they think it applies in THIS particular game (which would be a lie from their perspective) or stating that it doesn't. That way, the mafia goes about thinking there are probably no roles and they won't have the clues to search them out nearly as well.

I'm not sure it was the best to assume that I (or anyone else) was making the statement based on role info, when it would mean confirming whether or not I had a role. I don't think I, or anyone else replying to that point, ever mentioned being vanilla themselves; we may have tried to act vanilla, but everyone does that every game, no matter their role.

What I'm not completely sure about is whether you are making a scum gambit, saying you are an unnamed minor role. There wouldn't be much downside in a move like that, but... rereading your early posts give me a sense you are likely townie. I do think your claim was unnecessary, and scum could try this move, but I don't think you are one tbh. I can't say the same for Kronin and I think Fox's assumptions are a bit scummy.
