I like the idea of outcry- it drives up bidding, and gives people a better idea of how much everyone thinks something is worth.

In practice, I'm not sure if it works- I easily stole the bid for that Agri Fief by virtue of being awake at 9PM EST, and I would have gotten that Rich Planet if I hadn't been at a comedy club and forgotten to put an alarm on my smartphone :shakefist:

Basically, for outcry, there's absolutely no reason for anyone to post a bid up until 5 minutes before the deadline. If you can work out some sort of real-time auction (Skype has chats, I think?), that'd be awesome. But in strict fairness, outcry is probably a bad idea. Mostly because I can easily log on at 8:57 PM EST whenever I want.


As for Auction phases, I'd say do NOT get rid of them. They're a good way of splitting up auctions. I'm guessing that if everything was one giant auction, then people would bid a lot more cautiously on everything.


It seems like there's something guaranteed to happen in the second phase. As long as that continues to be true, I see no reason to get rid of the two auction phases.
