They were great (except for The Two Towers) but I can't abide people who talk about it as though it's the real version of the story :P.

I've actually been thinking of picking up the books, but as I said, my girlfriend wants us to watch the series, so I've been delaying it.

I've also started watching classic Doctor Who. Lots of television for me this summer, apparently :P.
