The most probable scenario right now is that ? will take over the Mr. X role when he returns from vacation, which is approximately when I'd guess day 2 will begin. He has said he will take the role, but also has said any player who shows up earlier or any substitution-qualify dead player who really wants it can have it. So one way or another that character will enter the game on or about, or before, Day 2 begins, assuming Day 1 doesn't set any new records (always dis-including game 9's Cairhien Blitz) for brevity. And once again every player including Mr. X was assigned randomly so I'd emphasize that player's should not seek to draw any conclusions about that role, I would have felt no hesitation placing anything from vanilla, cop, doc, goon, or SK in stasis even if I'd checked which role he got before sending out NBs.
