Less than you'd probably think, back in the day it was a strong indicator... though even then not a great one, I once (as a Townie) got Stephen lynched (also a townie) on the grounds that he couldn't possibly have been town if he was at L-1/2 for as long as he was, since surely the scum would have killed him by then and they wouldn't have started and propped up a vote on an innocent guy that was so clearly originated by them, thus his very lack of death indicated he was scum... that still kinda makes sense even in hindsight

First time I got lynched, like game 17 or 18, the only two people who consistently refused to unvote me besides FT, our cop who had copped me, were my two scum allies... that was like the Thermopylae of all lynches too. And way, way back in game 4, the very first 'bussing' in the games, FT and I jumped on Cor Amon, our game founder and original mod, valiantly struggling to get him lynched... the three of us were all scum allies. Anyway there's a long and murky history of the town successfully lynching a townie without a single scum vote or the scum throwing their own under the bus so hard and fast they bounce. It's more of a rarity for a scummer to be defended by a scummer than not these days
