It's a good way to go I think, and I can see some other advantages too though I'll reserve discussing those till after the fact. I also can't see any real downsides. It's entirely possibly everyone, scum included, are telling the truth and/or role and alignment aren't really very tied to character, the only obvious character to role connection would be 'the scottish doctor' and I'm not that and I'm doubting FT is either, so the only way that's in play is if an alleged thane is lying anyway, so I don't think we have much to risk. If someone is lying about being a thane we should have, with 6 thanes possibly present a 4 in 6 chance that person would pick one someone else had, and that's pretty good odds for a day 1 stratagem.
