It was a large, oddly-shaped piece of wood, and in the darkness I first assumed it to be nothing more than an imposing bit of driftwood. But no, its shape was too familiar. It could have been nothing but pareidolia deceiving me, but I was curious now, and the only way to be certain was to get a closer look.
I made my way down to the shore, and as I drew closer I also grew more confident in my suspicions. This was no wayward log or branch washed up by the tide, this was crafted, and crafted to look human. But I could not have imagined just how human it would appear to be!
This was a life-sized wooden statue of myself! It appeared to be my age, bore my current haircut, even wore what looked very much like my current clothes! How could this have come to be? My reason and imagination clashed, unsuccessfully trying to negotiate a suitable explanation for this incident. Why did this statue look just like me?

Lost twin?
Time travel?
Reincarnation of an ancient hero or prophet?
Unconscious wooden shapeshifter?
