This must be the reason to go after Stephen. NKing any other person at least gave you the chance to kill two players: if you got lucky and killed a player who knew too much, (s)he would be ineligible to replace the modkill.

That's the only reason I can see. Someone killed Stephen because they thought he could be a cop. So we know that there is a scum faction with killing power in addition to Stephen's faction which probably still has killing power and may or may not be scum.

I see two possibilities: 1) He has an investigative power usable at night to discern a player's identity. Or 2) He was part of the same mason group with Stephen and Stephen told him.
