What's taking so long?


Hmmm.. I wondered about that too.

Either the writers decided to it would take them some time to get ready for no better reason than to have their confrontation with Widmore occur later on the timeline, or things happened and they intend to show their side of the story at some later point before the finale.

In any case, they've waited too long, and now I've quite forgotten the details. Did they have the means to cross to Hydra Island? Did they have any means to destroy the plane? Mind you, if Ben needs Widmore's plane to blow up, he'd typically manipulate Widmore into blowing it up thinking he's preventing Ben and Richard from stealing his plane.
