Maybe it is just the nature of the film - the digital animation just seems tailored for 3D but Shrek Forever After looked really good and I found it to be quite entertaining.

I've not watched the 2D version, but I had the chance to view stills (not the same in any way, I know), but it looked no where near as good as the 3D one.

For the same reason, I am looking forward to Toy Story 3(D), although I do admit they are pretty uncomfortably to watch at the start.
