Hmm. Yes. But isn't the jacket Doctor precisely the Doctor without the TARDIS?
He's not travelling in it himself, perhaps, but guiding it to where he needs it to go so as to get things set up correctly for himself later.
I like how Moffat put Autons so centrally. I watched a Confidential episode once where he and Tennant were geeking out about the Autons and how terrified they had been to go to shopping centres afterwards.
Yes, I liked them. It is the same with the Angels - they work well because they are things people see in everyday life made bad.
As for the seeing/not seeing thing. My best friend discussed this in a letter she sent me just a few days ago (oh, yes. We discuss Doctor Who in letters), and she pointed out how ubiquitous this theme of seeing/not seeing is in this series. I think the examples she gave were the angels (moving when you cannot see them), Vincent and the not only invisible but also blind monster, the perception filters and of course how the Doctor keeps missing things.
Geek
The series has even doubled up on it - the Angels not only move when no one is looking but they used a perception filter to disguise themselves, the vampires in Venice almost had two layers - aliens disguised as vampires disguised as Venetian nobles.Woman? Surely you mean Roman?

I'm going to pretend it was a witty reference to Life of Brian

(rather than it being late and drink related)
And I did not guess that it was Rory. I had written him off as dead until such time as Amy remembered him, which hadn't happened yet. He wasn't even on my radar. I thought it might be the other Doctor, or possibly someone else, but not Rory.
I'm still waiting for Rory to come back, I just don't think he is dead and gone for ever.
Indeed. I am terribly curious about what is going on.
Yes, it is interesting as well as it seems to suggest there is a mystery to be solved that is no where near the Pandorica - someone (River Song, I presume) needs to work out what is going on with the house. Unless the Doctor already has and just hasn't shared yet beneath a guise of not noticing?
Well, we know from Old Who that companions can fly the TARDIS, I think? No, wait. I think possibly it was controlled by the Master when they did. But still, not the Doctor. I am in the "Baddies are Stupid" camp for now.
There is a logical sense to what they say - I think in the past they said a Tardis could only be used by a Timelord or the attempted user would face dire results? So they could be working on the logic that only the Doctor can use it because the Doctor is the only remaining Timelord?
Now that is an interesting theory. I like it. What are the implications of that, though?
I've not got that far yet
It might be something to do with how Amelia was compared to Amy - the baddies have used her memories to help create the trap, perhaps Amelia being a child would have the strength of imagination to use that against them? Though I tend to think it is something to do with the house - the Doctor seemed to make it central to the mystery surrounding her. I wonder if the Tardis left an "essence" there, after it exploded (hence too many rooms for the size of the house and the first crack being there, the first we saw anyway) - still don't know where that is going
Also, forgot to add last night but there has also been a theme of being trapped, I think, this series. There was the Doctors speech about how he was at his most deadly when he was trapped by the Angels. The Silurians had him trapped at one point (I think) and in the Lodger he was sort of trapped as well, twice in fact - once away from the Tardis and secondly when Craig had to touch the panel as the ship tried to force the Doctor to.
