The Inception was planted in us (the minds of the audience) by the movie. We are now the ones questioning our reality - look - everyone is talking about the movies and making theories about what it means.

I interpreted the ending as acknowledging that all the characters in the movie were simply our (the audience's) own projections in what Nolan (the director) made us all dream in the movie theatre. He's pulled off the greatest heist in movie history. Nolan (the director) has performed Inception for real - on us.

Greatest movie in all of history. Straight to number one in the IMDB all-time top-250.
