True. ``I'm sixteen years old. I don't want to die''.
Exactly. Though once she's back from the dead, she's remarkably chipper. Not like that other time...
But I think the main appeal for me in that episode is Giles. His reaction to the possibility of her death is wonderful. Cliché, perhaps, but wonderful.
I'm not surprised somehow.

Really?
I like parts of that episode, but as a whole it does not appeal to me. I like Buffy being dead as a nightmare, but once we have established that she dreads becoming a vampire, the seeing her as one does nothing for me. Giles' reaction to the headstone is much more effective.
Oh, it's not that it's particularly poignant or anything, it's just fun.

But it is so clearly a cheap nonsense trick. It is like Rowling's non-Harry povs. Yes, they serve a purpose; yes, they could not be replaced with something more appropriate without it involving much more work -- but that is just the point. And that is why it is annoying.
I dunno, I don't find it cheap nonsense that they make vampires unable to do CPR. Dead creatures don't give the kiss of life, makes perfect sense to me. Obviously real consistency would require that vampires were never seen breathing or heard panting (the speaking part you can explain with some mystical thing easily enough, let's not exaggerate with the science

There is one thing that really, really annoys me.

Because TV shows about vampires are usually not concerned about science?
