Yes, I think much of my annoyance springs from stuff that turned out to be a trick. Which is a ploy I generally object to on principle. It was Dallas all over again. Bobby? Dead? Nonono. They've just been DREAMING for four seasons.

Of course, this is one reason I didn't enjoy The Gone-Away World as much as I might have, and I'm fairly sure we're not agreeing on that.

But as for Whedon, yeah, he doesn't do it as badly as that, but it's still annoying when he does it. Don't get me started on the retcon in Buffy Season Eight, either. Way to undermine your character development (though I suppose the character development is real even if you retcon the cause, but still).
