I've watched some TV shows in HD a few times, but I can't see any major differences that make me say, "Holy shit! That's so much better than standard definition!" The only differences that I've seen are the picture is brighter and the volume is lower. What's the big deal?
Yes, I do have the HD channels, and, yes, I'm sure I was on the HD channel. I'm sure that my TV is an HDTV also. It's an LG 37LD450- 37 inch High Definition 1080p LCD TV.
From what everyone has said here there are three possibilities about why HD looks like the same shit I've been watching for years:
1) The setup is wrong.
This seems to be the major thing. After reading the posts on the matter I have seen that my TV is set up perfectly. I have no problem checking other settings, but right now there's no reason to think it's wrong.
2) I have bad eyes.
This isn't the problem either. For the past five years I've been given regular eye exams, and I have never had any problem with any of them. I can't see my eyes having gone bad in the last four months.
3) There's no major difference and I shouldn't feel like an idiot for not being impressed.
I've actually seen this from a few people on a couple different sites. I don't know why people would swear that HD is better when what I have seen (not only on my TV, but also on other TVs) is so far below impressive that a booger hanging out of my nose fascinates me more.
I guess that I will have to put this one down in my little book of things I don't agree with. First I need to get a book to start this though.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
HD. What's the deal?

If the picture isn't filling the screen, then it's not HD

I can see the wrinkles and nose hairs much more clearly. I am not necessarily keen on HD. TMI. *NM*
