They're entertaining, I wouldn't call them good exactly.

Everyone keeps saying they're good, though, and I heard the movies were good too... maybe I should read the books, watch the foreign movie, then watch the American one.
Apart from the character of Lisbeth Salander, there's little to admire in the writing. I had fun reading them, there's a reason why they're such huge bestsellers, but there certainly are many books in the genre that are way superior.
