I'm in the same boat. I've suspected for quite some time now that Rory is killed by River, not the Doctor. I'm not quite sure why it's been pinned down as being the Doctor's death that places her in Stormcage.
As for the theory, it is quite possible. It could very well happen, or something very akin...but now I don't want it to! It would feel a little weak if it happens, having read the theory months before the reveal.
