I too didn't fully appreciate the waterfall being there, even though it was shown earlier, until suddenly it was happening and I realized what they were doing. As a bonus, the girl I saw it with wasn't familiar with the books, so afterward I got to talk Sherlock Holmes to explain the parallels.
