This may be old news, but I was still under the impression he had refused on account of his age not permitting him all the traveling anymore... so I'd already been wondering if they'd cut Saruman entirely. So glad he'll be in there.
On a different actor-related note, Evangeline Lilly? Seriously? Guess being Dominic Monaghan's ex helps, but it's still a rather strange move, taking some tiny role of some character that's not even in the book... then again, considering how much new story they're having to add, not being in the book doesn't necessarily mean her part will be that small.
