Hm. Well. . .I can probably manage to get through one show. I'll try to find time for that soon. Aemon Send a noteboard - 23/02/2012 04:09:06 PM
I like what you're saying about seriousness/mystery and story arcs. My two biggest sci-fi complaints:

1) Cheese. I don't mind comedies set in space (along the lines of Spaceballs or something), but a mix of seriousness and cheese really bothers me. One of the things I love about sci-fi is the sense of wonder and inspiration it gives you. Cheese kills that.

2) Episodic stories. Television series just don't seem important when there's no overarching plot. You never wonder what's going to happen next and you don't really have time to get into what they're selling. It's just situation of the day over and over again. For that matter, I don't really read short stories either. I want time to get to know the characters, experience their world and enjoy living in it.

So. Yeah. If NewWho has (I apologize in advance for what I'm about to say) cut the cheese (:D) and become much more dependent on story arcs, then it's probably much more like the sort of shows I tend to enjoy. I'll check it out at some point and I'll try to remember to give you an update. Thanks for the info!
