In the comics Cap stopped using guns HyogaRott Send a noteboard - 14/05/2012 01:57:59 PM
Though he in no way comes close to the Batman/Superman aversion to guns and death, Cap after being awoken, ceased using guns. To the point that a major outcry occurred when Bucky Barnes became the new Cap and was using a pistol. Many fans forgot that Cap had ever used guns.

The reasons stated for this change was that he had seen, and delivered too much death in WW2, that he preferred to avoid it now. He didn't collapse into hysterics if a villain dies mind you; he just preferred to use non-lethal means.
