Seems to be a bit more of a plot problem than Sansa and the Hound's scene. Generally, when your forces against the wall get flanked while you're on top of the wall, there's no where to run to. I think they need to keep Bronn his and Shae's betrayal at his trial are important to Tyrion's character development.
