... because the movies were very long and I understand such things had to happen. What I really hated was the stuff they added in. Like the elves at Helm's Deep, or bringing Frodo and Sam to Osgiliath, or Frodo sending Sam away on the Stairs.

I was angry about that for a long time. All three. I shouldn't have re-read the books right before the movie.

I mean, if they'd cut out that stuff I'm pretty sure they could have found room for The Voice of Saruman. The Two Towers movie started a chapter ahead of the book, and ended four chapters behind in both halves (give or take some things from Flotsam and Jetsam being shown as they happen rather than told by the Hobbits) for a total of eight chapters behind.

I do agree that the changes were not great (for me), but I still had so much fun with those movies.
