It is like when an author gains massive success and their editor stops editing - it was bloated and for no good reason.
Hopefully at some point down the line they will release a 2 film edited version of The Hobbit, aimed at 14 wear olds and over....
The film also seems to be aimed at the kids market, where LoTRs was clearly aimed at the whole family.
Radagast the Jarjar Binks was the worst of what they did, with his stupid rabbit sleigh but they also reduced the trolls and the goblin king to slapstick comic relief.
The flow of the film also seemed poor to me - possibly the impact of deciding to bloat it out to three films resulting in some extra scenes being shoved in but done badly all the same.

I wouldn't call it a rash - more like chafing.

I think two words have killed this movie for me: "orc nemesis"

To be fair, it's an orc nemesis from the books.

There was not an orc nemesis in the books

There actually was in Tolkein's mind, it is just contained in a different book. *NM*

If you haven't seen it, you really can't judge. It's not a big deal

Should have been edited down to 2 hours

I hated it, but I know I will be in the minority.

I think any of those changes need to be viewed with the question, "Did it make a better movie?"

Radagast? Bunny Sledge? Archrival Azog? The whole goblin cavern scene? It's a massacre alright. *NM*
