I was disappointed because it was TOO perfect. j-whitt987 Send a noteboard - 21/01/2013 03:39:07 PM
I thought it was a pretty great and satisfying finale!

Loved a lot of parts of the last doubt episode:

How they added the alterna-verse one last time, would have been disappointed if they hadn't, though.

Olivia and Peter going all biohazard on the place.

Loved how they brought so many fringe events to their side.

Walter saying "Because it looks cool" and knowing Astrid's name.

Leave it to Walter to have a great laugh before the shooting starts. I also think that he knew her real name for awhile and was just screwing with her.

The final moments.

It was maybe a bit too predictable that poor September wouldn't make it through the gate, but other than that I was really satisfied.

What with all the talk about Walter's sacrifice, I kind of expected Peter not to exist in a world without the Observers, though. Wouldn't he have drowned without September interfering? Or would that ice lake accident never have happened in the first place, I can't recall? Oh well, an unhappy ending would have sucked, so I'm good.

From what I've seen it is generally agreed upon that Observers still exist. They just have emotions now. This is one of my problems with the ending. Is it really safe to assume that these people would be better with emotions like hate, jealousy, fear, etc? I see a Khan-ish future instead of a paradise that the characters saw.

My other issue is that from the beginning this show (as I've seen it) has been about unintended consequences. When Walter crossed over to cure Peter, there were consequences, when Walter instead brought Peter back with him there were consequences, etc. When they sent Michael to the future with Walter things somehow worked out exactly how they wanted them to. I was hoping to see a reset to at least the early days of season 1. This would have given the expected reset while also showing the ongoing theme of unintended consequences.

That's my take on the finale. It was good, but too perfect for me to say great.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
