First, who has a fleet of ha'taks like that? I can only think of the Lucian Alliance, but I don't see any motive for them to attack a research station. (Going down the "oh, there was that one last System Lord we happened to miss" route would be really lame.)
I think Carter actually says it's the Lucian Alliance in the episode. Pretty sure it was her. Someone definitely did identify them as Lucian Alliance. Their interest in the outpost isn't addressed/revealed. I think it was one of those things where they didn't have any other villains left that would be suitably equipped for the opening scene except for the Lucian Alliance.
Third, each Stargate has a unique point of origin, which is the only symbol that differs between Stargates (within each galaxy). The gate at Icarus should not have had Earth's point of origin as a symbol, and if it did, it would have been eminently obvious, and it would not have taken six months and a genius drop-out video gamer to realize it.
There's a lot of "point of origin symbol" stuff that I've let go over the years, but I can definitely see your point on the issue.
The Ancient communication devices were a good touch, though.
I hope we get to see what Dr. Rush actually did/said while he was in Dr. Lee's body at the SGC.

It's definitely Stargate BSG without Cylons, but I like it well enough to keep watching. *NM*

Yeah, it definitely got me thinking about what a BattleStarGate would look like.

The Odyssey is a classic fantasical story. Much like King Arthur/Jesus Christ, etc. Great myths.
