Re: Most memorable movie moments? Artsapat Send a noteboard - 12/03/2010 09:43:59 PM
Years ago I was in the US for a holiday and the kids of the family we stayed with took us to Arachnaphobia. Was a lot of fun, but to Dutch children who see boobies on a weekly basis on prime time television, me and my sister (then 11 and 13 (?) were amazed at the complete break down of order when the spider was washed down the belly of the girl taking a shower. Nothing to see here people. *tsk*

Saw Star Trek: Insurrection at a special midnight press showing. Was a nice experience to see press people and assorted geeks running around.

At high school, we used to have a movie night once a year. Several movies in a row, introduced by our cinephilic French teacher. At one of those nights (where I shared a sleeping bag and a bag of M&Ms with my soon-to-be sweetheart *nudge* *nudge* *wink* *wink they showed the French movie "Mercy la Vie" ("Thank you, life", which must be the strangest movie I have EVER seen. It started out as an American road movie (cadillac driving down a dust road, power lines and sun). Halfway towards the camera, the car breaks down, a woman in a wedding dress gets out and kicks the front wheel screaming "Mercy la vie!". It went downhill from there. As in: two people having sex in an abandoned train station, who wake up the next morning to the sound of a nazis and a train transporting jews (they went to sleep somewhere in the 80s).

Seeing Rambo: First Blood and having my mother falling asleep within 20 minutes of the opening. Not her kind of movie...

And lastly (from the top of my head), my mother seeing the announcement to "American Movie" and saying to my dad "Oh, that's a nice movie. I really, REALLY want to see that." To which my father replied "We did. Last week".

Priceless.
The mystery deepens... I think. *MySmiley*
